Our Self-catering accommodation in devon

A kitchen counter with onions, a potato, a wine bottle, and a glass of red wine.

The Heart of The Elms

Step into the open-plan kitchen dining room and you'll soon discover why it's the heart of The Elms, bringing everyone together from the first morning coffee to relaxed evening meals. Spacious, light and welcoming, it's designed for families and groups to cook, dine and spend quality time together throughout their stay.

The well-equipped self-catering kitchen offers generous worktop space, ample storage and a large electric oven, making it easy to prepare everything from simple breakfasts to celebratory dinners for up to 12 guests. A seperate utility room provides an additional fridge freezer and washing machine, ideal for longer stays and larger groups.

Flowing seamlessly from the kitchen, the dining area ensures no one misses out on the conversation. At its centre is a bespoke dining table, handcrafted by a local carpenter in Shillingford, comfortably seating 12 guests. Overlooking the table is my handmade artwork celebrating Exmoor, inspired by the beautiful landscape and places to explore during your stay.

Whether you're celebrating a birthday, enjoying a family roast or simply sharing stories after a day exploring Devon, this is a space designed to bring people together. And when the meal is over, the dishwasher can take care of the washing up while you unwind in the hot tub, relax in the lounge or enjoy the games room.

More than simply a place to cook and dine, this welcoming space is where conversations flow, celebrations begin and lasting holiday memories are made.

The lounge-space to relax and unwind

The separate ground floor lounge at The Elms offers a generous additional space to unwind after a busy day exploring the Devon countryside. Designed with families and larger groups in mind, it provides room for everyone to spread out while still enjoying time together.

Furnished with distinctive Chesterfield seating in soft charcoal grey fabric, the lounge blends timeless style with comfort and practicality, creating a welcoming space for multi-generational stays. High ceilings, a decorative ceiling rose, and large feature artwork reflect the character and heritage of this Georgian holiday home, while large windows bring in natural light and countryside views.

Logs and kindling are supplied from our own farm in Shillingford, with additional wood available throughout your stay, adding a thoughtful and homely touch.
